BMS footy contest raises charity cash

A touch football competition hosted by BMS in Queensland raised almost $30,000 for the Leukaemia Foundation.

Some 260 insurance industry members competed in the Charity Cup at Ballymore Stadium in Brisbane in November.

Teams included AIG, Allianz/Coalition, Attvest, BHSI, Barry Nilsson/Suncorp, CGU, Chubb, Dual Australia, Epsilon, GT Insurance, HDI Global, Liberty Specialty Markets, McInnes Wilson Lawyers, NTI, QBE, Vero and Wotton Kearney. There was also a wildcard Barbarians team.

Team Chubb won the grand final, defeating Team Epsilon 2-0.

The event was “bigger, better and more impactful than ever”, BMS CEO Andrew Godden says.

McLardy McShane backs FightMND

McLardy McShane raised a record $170,000 at its annual FightMND golf day in January.

The event was held at the Moonah Links golf club on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, and was followed by a dinner at The Continental in Sorrento. More than 120 players took part in the golf and 220 attended the dinner.

Over the past decade, the company has raised nearly $2 million for FightMND through events including the golf day and its annual group conference.

Hundreds enjoy AICLA Vic awards ceremony

The Australasian Institute of Chartered Loss Adjusters’ Victorian division held its 10th awards night at Crown Palladium in December.

YDR consultant Ian McWalter received a lifetime achievement award, Crawford & Company’s Justin McEwan was crowned chartered loss adjuster of the year, and colleague Kierryn Sheehy won the emerging loss adjuster award.

Charles Taylor’s Sharon Coysh was named loss adjusting support person of the year.

The service provider prize went to Resto Rescue, and builder of the year to Insuraplex.

MMIF meets for festive fun

More than 200 industry professionals gathered for the Melbourne Marine Insurance Forum’s annual Christmas Luncheon in November.

The event brought together underwriters, claims specialists, brokers, surveyors, lawyers and service providers for an afternoon of networking and celebration, reinforcing the MMIF’s role in fostering connection and knowledge-sharing across the marine insurance market.

An illusionist provided entertainment and prizes were presented to lucky raffle winners. The lunch was made possible through the generous support of a range of sponsors.
