Allianz VIC Workers’ Compensation:
Industry leadership
and trusted partnerships

Strong relationships with workers’ compensation partners support not only workplace safety and injury prevention but also the wellbeing of those affected. Allianz’s Victorian Workers’ Compensation team embodies this difference, actively working towards preventing the challenges faced by individuals and organisations rather than simply managing their claims.

With injury prevention and efficient return-to-work programs at the heart of their mission, Allianz’s team works as partners to build safer workplaces and offer consistent, hands-on support to clients.

The 14-strong team, led by Jodie Dowling, share decades of collective experience, underpinning Allianz’s long-standing history with WorkSafe Victoria since 1985. Meticulously building the Client Services team over her 20-year tenure with Allianz, Jodie states that she is “proud to lead a diverse and talented group dedicated to enhancing client satisfaction”. Jodie’s commitment to inclusivity and excellence has fostered a team poised to deliver unparalleled service and innovative solutions.

Dan Dimovski, an Account Manager in the team, touches on what makes them so effective: “We’re standing on the shoulders of giants here,” he shares, acknowledging the knowledge and experience held by Senior Account Managers like Rohan Hutchison and Debra Corden, who each bring nearly three decades of experience. “They’re like an encyclopedia – any question you throw their way, they have an answer,” Dan adds.

This wealth of experience and a collaborative approach allows the team to understand and anticipate customer needs and provide timely, compassionate and proactive support. As Debra Corden, Senior Account Manager, notes: “There’s a big part of our work that’s about helping others grow and develop.

Our role is not managing claims; it’s about genuinely supporting both customers and colleagues within Allianz, sharing insights, and staying committed to everyone’s wellbeing and growth”.

Dan Dimovski, Account Manager – Dan sees his role as fostering relationships and delivering a standard of service that clients can trust. With a background that emphasises relationship-building, Dan values the collaborative culture within Allianz. “Customers often come to us when they’re dissatisfied with current services,” he explains. Dan believes the VIC team’s success lies in the personalised attention and comprehensive support provided to each customer, demonstrating that they are genuinely valued and heard.

Bobbie Patel, Senior Account Manager – With a career in workers’ compensation that spans from the early 1990s, Bobbie’s journey has covered almost every role within the industry. Her passion lies in helping clients improve their performance, directly impacting their insurance premiums and overall risk profile. “Supporting customers as a true business partner is what motivates me,” Bobbie says. She is particularly proud of the tailored reporting capabilities Allianz has developed, which provide clients with in-depth insights into their risks and future premium projections.

Rohan Hutchison, Senior Business Account Manager – Rohan’s 30-year tenure with Allianz showcases his dedication to the company and the industry. Known for his meticulous approach to anticipating and addressing customer needs, Rohan thrives on the challenge of facilitating client expectations. “I’m here to serve customers, to predict, anticipate, and try to prevent any concerns before they arise,” he shares. His experience running a regional branch exposed him to every aspect of the workers’ compensation business, equipping him with the skills to navigate sensitive customer situations.

Debra Corden, Senior Account Manager – Like many of her colleagues, Debra “fell into” workers’ compensation and never looked back. Her passion lies in the relationship side of account management, where she enjoys working with a wide range of clients and internal teams at Allianz. Debra is especially committed to supporting industry growth and development, regularly mentoring newcomers and sharing the wealth of knowledge she has gained over the years. “Seeing others grow in this industry – whether they’re clients, peers, or Allianz team members – is a big part of my job satisfaction,” she explains.

Priding themselves on proactively managing their clients’ workers’ compensation programs, this group, in collaboration with Allianz’s business data analysts, developed specialist data solutions for their clients, allowing them to look closely at the finer details to identify the underlying causes of types of workplace injuries within companies across different jurisdictions. “This is the best reporting I’ve seen – it truly helps clients understand their workers’ compensation policies and make informed decisions,” Bobbie remarks.

Something Allianz Victoria does exceptionally well as standard practice is an early intervention mental injury program. Through this program, the team steps in as soon as the claim is lodged, helping businesses manage risks early on whilst liability is being assessed. By doing so, they enhance their clients’ program success and foster a culture of safety.

Program success for Allianz means supporting clients in creating workplaces with reduced injury risks and providing pathways to early treatment and the safe and sustainable return to work of injured employees.

Rohan notes that early intervention is a crucial component of Allianz’s service philosophy: “When we can get involved early and understand what’s happening in the business, it makes a huge difference in helping prevent future incidents.” This approach, backed by tailored reporting tools and extensive data insights, ensures clients can make informed decisions about their workers’ compensation programs and reduce incidents over time.

Working closely with brokers, Allianz’s team acts as allies to help reinforce messaging around performance improvement and early intervention. By fostering a collaborative three-way relationship between Allianz, brokers, and clients, the team can provide robust support and resolve concerns more effectively. Broker relationships with account managers give them a direct point of contact across all the states we operate in.

“When brokers are on board, they can champion the Allianz brand and educate clients about the services we offer,” says Debra. “This relationship becomes particularly valuable when dealing with sensitive situations or high-stakes decisions.

Allianz’s Victorian Workers’ Compensation team has set ambitious goals to retain their valued clients in 2024, aiming to maintain the highest standards in the industry. Their dedication to clients, brokers and the workers they support underscores Allianz’s position as a trusted partner in delivering workers’ compensation across Victoria. With expertise across all sectors, Allianz supports a diverse client base, from small enterprises to large departments, ensuring tailored solutions for businesses of all sizes and needs.
