Axa XL hosts St Patrick’s Day celebrations

About 500 brokers attended Axa XL’s St Patrick’s Day celebrations on March 17 – a highly anticipated date in the industry’s social calendar.

Events were held simultaneously in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. “It was great to catch up with industry partners and set the tone for a successful 2023,” the insurer said.

UAC expos going strong

Underwriting Agencies Council (UAC) members exhibited across three expos in March and April.
 
The Gold Coast Underwriting Expo attracted 78 member exhibitors and was attended by 200 brokers, while the Canberra expo attracted 64 exhibitors and 60 brokers. 
 
The day after the Canberra event, 48 exhibitors travelled to Wagga Wagga where 65 brokers attended.

Austbrokers award-winners named at conference

Award-winners were announced at a 1950s-themed Rock ‘n’ Roll Gala dinner in April, after more than 370 attended Austbrokers’ two-day annual conference at the Adelaide Convention Centre.

Adelaide-based MGA Insurance Group Deputy Executive Chairman Allan Amber won this year’s Frank Earl award.

Broome-based AB Phillips Director David Keys was crowned Broker of the Year, while NSW-based Markey Insurance Brokers Claims Officer Michael Bannon took the Claims Manager award and SA-based Austbrokers Life Financial Adviser Gretchen Scannell won the Life Adviser award.

WA-based MGIB Relationship Manager Rebecca Broad took 2023 Young Professional honours.

2000 attend Steadfast Convention

The Steadfast Convention in Perth raised a record-breaking $400,000 for Breast Cancer Care WA, following a string of generous donations at the gala dinner.

The dinner, with a circus spectacular theme, marked the end of the convention, which was attended by about 2000 people in March.

The convention featured more than 20 speakers including Steadfast CEO Robert Kelly, former Deputy Prime Minister and Ambassador to the US Kim Beazley and former athlete Jana Pittman.

Next year’s Steadfast Convention will take place from March 24-26 in Brisbane.
