iBAIS 3.0 offers a new answer

BAIS has launched an AI-enabled upgrade to its platform, allowing users to interact with the system using natural language to generate reports, insights and analysis in seconds.

The new iBAIS 3.0 tool introduces conversational capability, enabling users to ask questions of their data without needing technical knowledge or report-writing expertise. The development reflects a broader shift across the industry, with firms seeking more practical ways to extract value from the large volumes of data already held in their systems.

BAIS says the updated platform transforms how data is accessed, removing traditional barriers around reporting complexity and time.

Users can ask a wide range of questions, from high-level management insights to detailed operational queries. Common requests include analysing profit across risk classes, identifying top clients and tracking commission performance.

“The introduction of AI queries provides the flexibility to help us better understand our data and is immensely valuable”
Celia McCormack, Head of Operations, BMS Risk Solutions

The system can also handle more immediate queries, such as confirming insurer placement, checking policy details or reviewing claims history, as well as generating charts showing gross written premium, income by policy type and underwriting performance. Insurance knowledge queries are supported through integration with iNavigator, ensuring responses are relevant to the Australian market.

The appeal lies in iBAIS 3.0’s speed and simplicity. Rather than navigating report structures or exporting data into spreadsheets, users can ask a question and receive an answer almost instantly.

Running reports is emerging as a key use case.

“Running reports has never been easier,” Shaun Berkrey from Berkrey Insurance Brokers says. “A simple command such as, ‘How many active clients do we have?’ takes around 10 seconds for an answer.

You can also save requests for future reports, so there’s no need to even think about how to ask AI next time.”

Early usage shows a wide range of queries being processed, from simple questions through to more complex requests such as generating monthly comparisons of gross written premium across financial years, or extracting multiyear lists of cancelled policies with detailed financial fields.

BAIS says even large data sets can be returned almost instantly, with tens of thousands of records processed in just a few seconds.

For many businesses, the ability to quickly compile and analyse information is replacing processes that previously required multiple systems.

“The new AI feature has been fabulous at gaining insights into information that previously we were struggling to put together manually using multiple spreadsheets,” says user Amanda Dixon, operations manager at a large underwriting agency.

Users are also exploring operational insights, including productivity measures such as policies handled per executive, plus portfolio analysis to identify underperforming products or niche exposures. Faster access to this information is also beginning to influence how brokers engage with clients.

“The most significant change has been in the speed and efficiency of data retrieval and report generation,” says Angela Driessen-Clancy, director at Driessen Insurance Brokers. “That speed is not just an internal efficiency gain. It is beginning to reshape the client conversation itself.”

BAIS says the tool is helping brokers and underwriting agencies make better use of their data, reducing administrative time, improving client conversations and strengthening data accuracy. Client information remains fully secure, as no data is ever shared externally with AI. It may also reduce the need for separate CRM or business intelligence tools, with more analysis performed directly within the core platform.

For many businesses, the challenge has not been a lack of data but the ability to access and apply it effectively. Simplifying that process is enabling users to engage more directly with their information and extract greater value from it.

While the data itself has not changed, the way it is accessed has. With iBAIS 3.0, BAIS is helping drive a shift towards conversational interaction, reshaping how insurance professionals use their data.
